The Differences Between special-glass sales And Ordinary Glass

Special glass, also known as new glass, is a type of glass material with special functions or properties. They usually use refined, high-purity or new raw materials and are formed through new processes under special conditions or strict control. Special glass has further developed special functions, such as thermal insulation, Heat absorption, radiation protection, etc. In addition, specialty glasses can impart new and useful properties by sacrificing certain properties.

Ingredients and manufacturing processes.

The composition of specialty glass is more complex than ordinary glass and may contain boric acid, aluminum oxide or other special oxides. The production process of specialty glasses often takes place at high temperatures and may involve precise composition control and special melting techniques.  Ordinary glass, also known as soda-lime glass, is mainly composed of silica sand, soda-alkali and limestone. The manufacturing process is relatively simple and involves melting raw materials at about 1,000 degrees Celsius, then shaping, cooling and cutting.

02

Performance characteristics.

Specialty glasses usually have excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, high light transmittance and low thermal expansion coefficient, which makes them suitable for applications under high temperature, chemical corrosion or other special environments. While regular glasses are cheap and easy to work with, they are generally not as heat- and chemical-resistant as specialty glasses and may corrode or discolor when exposed to certain chemicals or high temperatures for extended periods of time.

Application areas.

Due to its unique properties, specialty glass is often used in advanced applications such as laboratory vessels, high-temperature viewing windows, aerospace, as well as cooking utensils, lighting fixtures and certain high-end household products. Ordinary glass is commonly used in building windows, automotive glass, furniture, beverage bottles, mirrors and ordinary household utensils due to its cost-effectiveness and wide range of applications.

Advantages of special-glass

1.High strength and impact resistance: Special glass, such as tempered glass and laminated glass, has higher strength and impact resistance than ordinary glass. When tempered glass is broken, it will produce particles without sharp angles, reducing damage to the human body.

2.High transparency and optical properties: Special glass has excellent transparency and optical properties and is suitable for use in optical instruments, electronic display devices and other fields.

3.High temperature resistance: Ability to maintain shape and performance in high temperature environments, suitable for manufacturing high temperature equipment and stoves.

4.Bulletproof and anti-theft: Special glass has strong anti-collision performance and can even resist high-speed bullet attacks. It is widely used in vehicle bulletproof glass, safety doors, etc.

5.Sound insulation performance: It can effectively isolate external noise and is suitable for places that need to maintain a quiet environment, such as hospitals, schools, concert halls, etc.

6.Corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance: It has good resistance to corrosive substances such as acids and alkalis, and can remain stable in environments with large temperature changes.

Application of special-glass

1.Explosion proof and safety purposes. Such as anti-smash glass and bullet-proof and anti-smash glass. These glasses are not easily broken when subjected to impact and can prevent fragments from flying. They are often used in places with high safety requirements such as banks, prisons, and public security agencies.

2.Construction sector. For example, tempered glass, laminated glass, insulated glass, fire-resistant glass, etc., to improve the safety, sound insulation, heat insulation and aesthetics of the building.

3.automotive field. Special glass is used to make car windows, car mirrors, windshields, etc. to improve the safety and comfort of cars.

4.medical field. Such as intraocular lenses, surgical glassware, etc.

Aviation sector. It is used to manufacture aircraft windows, liquid level gauges, instrument panels, etc., to meet the needs of light weight, high strength and resistance to harsh environments.

5.High-end architecture and aerospace. High-strength glass provides resistance to external impact and mechanical wear.

6.Withstands high pressure applications. Such as high-pressure vessels in petroleum, chemical and other industries, high-pressure resistant glass has excellent pressure resistance.

7.High temperature or radiation environment. High temperature resistant and radiation resistant glass is used in atomic energy technology and medical fields, etc.

Specific spectrum transmission. Such as chalcogenide glass, used for infrared temperature measurement and night vision.

8.Decorative and Applied Arts. Such as hot melt glass and stained glass, used for decoration and artistic creation.

In addition, special glass is also used for deep processing, such as frosted glass, sandblasted glass, patterned glass, wired glass and insulated glass. These glasses have specific optical, decorative or functional properties and are suitable for different architectural and design needs.
